| Outline | To be submitted via email by October 16th
Failure to meet the deadline will result in a letter grade
drop.
OUTLINEClick here for outstanding example of a GRADE A
Outline. For the first three classes, I will address the general theme of philosophical inquiry, its nature and purpose and how to construct an outline that can focus on our textbook or be found anywhere on the web or in an old-fashioned book (see website examples). This will be a 7 or more page outline of a classic philosophical work or part of a work that addresses a philosophical subject. For example, you might want to make a video comparing Socrates to the Buddha. In this case, you would find a philosophical question addressed among the writings of Plato and in early Buddhist literature respectively and critically assess the answers each philosopher gave to the question. You may also focus on a general topic such as “Environmental Philosophy” but in this case, I still request that you present part of a classic text, for example, Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring. Your job will be to whittle the mass of information the authors present into a highly concise outline.
