open source buddhism

Welcome to opensourcebuddhism.org.  We here seek to gradually awaken the global population – through the moving sight and sound of short documentaries –  to the facts discovered by Siddhartha Gautama a.k.a. the Awakened or Buddha.  As Buddha first discovered, all things are interconnected having no self or center, no limits and the evolving grasping consciousness propels us along the river of convolution - samsara - seemingly perpetually.  Our philosophy is centered around the idea that like the Middle Way of Buddha, one should ever anew seek to avoid extremes.  In this manner, our Open Source Buddhist Research Institute seeks to present as objectively as we can, the truths of the great variety of Buddhisms around the world and their interactions with the philosophies and religions they encounter, through moving site and sound documentaries gleaned by students on topics around the globe.  As Buddha himself said when explaining to the Kalama tribespeople what was his authority, declared, “Let experience be your guru.  If what I say accords with that, accept it, if not, discard it.”  So we present the Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana as impartially as we can.  Help us stay honest with your contributions to our work here. We encourage the critics and champions of Buddhism to help us explore this tremendously influential psychological and philosophical tradition.
